Hornblower Pitches In For Niagara Falls Community Clean Sweep Day

October 14th, 2017
As a part of our environmental stewardship, Hornblower Niagara Cruises has participated in multiple of the Niagara Falls semi-annual Community Clean Sweep Days since our opening in 2014. Our team loves getting out into the community together to make a difference!

The Niagara Falls Community Clean Sweep Day brings volunteers together to help clean our city of debris. This semi-annual event takes place in both the spring and the fall and takes volunteers to different parks, trails, and walkways around Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada to collect litter and enhance the city’s environment.
This fall the Community Clean Sweep Day event took place on Saturday, October 14th, 2017. Hornblower was proud to have a group of our employees volunteer their time to help with this initiative. Volunteers gathered at Oaks Park, located at Stanley Ave and Morrison Street at 10:00 am to sign-in and receive their cleaning supplies. From here volunteers walked out to nearby walkways, parks and trails to collect litter and debris.

The City of Niagara Falls Park in the City Committee

These events each year are organized by The City of Niagara Falls Park in the City Committee. The Park in the City Committee is a volunteer committee made up of Niagara Falls residents who are appointed by members of City Council. The committee’s mandate is to encourage environmental responsibility, city-wide beautification, promote recreational and active transportation and civic pride through community action. The committee also advises City Council on issues regarding its mandate.

The committee began organizing these Clean Sweep events in 2007. This is an excellent opportunity for neighbours, families and local businesses to come together and show their civic pride. Students can also acquire community service hours by participating in the event.
The next Niagara Falls Community Clean Sweep event will be taking place this coming spring. You can sign up to volunteer and be a part of this great event by contacting the city.

  • We use a biodiesel and a carbon offset program for select boat cruises.
